How to keep growing while being in a good place mentally, just by choosing to be surrounded by healthy atmospheres, therefore contributing to the well being of us all.
There are so many different ways to create a healthy atmosphere, and although we all like different things and feel comfortable with our own specific practices, at the end of the day, we are all human beings, we are all animals, with the same needs and similar behaviors.
Therefore, reflecting upon the idea of a healthy atmosphere does not seem like a crazy idea.
Fist of all, what I consider an aspect healthy when it not only satisfies your necessities, but also provides for you to grow and expand. I have spent most of my life being in spaces where I wasn't comfortable or didn’t feel like they were doing anything in my favor. It is hard to see because some environments may seem like they will be ideal for you, but in practice they don't meet your deeper desires and overall well being. Recently I have started to create healthy atmospheres for my growth and position myself only in those situations that I felt comfortable in (different from comfort zone).
Hopefully i can communicate and find meaning in some of the aspects that I consider when evaluating ether I am in a healthy atmosphere or not.
At work
I am currently a University student, and go to classes every week day for six hours approximately. For me being a student is a roller coaster of emotions. There are so many expectations which are conflicted with shocking realities, for better or for worse. Not having a solid ground to stand strong in makes me focus all the energy that allows me to have a healthy mind on myself. I can not depend on external factors or people, because they will disappoint you, upset you, surprise you, etc. None of which is appropriate when trying to maintain a balance, so I would recommend to find room inside yourself to deal with all the external stimulus going on in your day.
At home
Home is the place where I rest, spend time with my family and study (quick and lacking overview to be honest). Here, I know I can rely on for example family members to provide with the peace or playfulness that I enjoy. They are in a way responsible of creating a healthy atmosphere in the house. And viceversa. At home I can also surround myself wiht experiences such as smells of candles, sounds of my favorite songs, comfortable clothes, etc. In general I can choose to surround myself with what is healthy to me.
For yourself
If someone ever told you to act a certain way for someone else, they were wrong. Yes sometimes you have to because of one specific situation that requires some degree of sacrifice. But the number one priority in your life is taking care of yourself. If you are not questioning your well being every day, you might find further along the way that you have been putting with unhealthy situations and consequently sabotaging yourself. Listen to what your inner pendulum has to say about the balance of your own health in everyday situations, and gradually adjust if needed to achieve better atmospheres over time.
Unfortunately, this is not an overnight result. As many things, it is about creating the habit, sticking with it and thinking of the long term. That is the only way to ensure that you maintain solid healthy atmospheres, either around you or within you, to accompany through your days.
Do it for you. For your well being. If you are in a good place and on the right path, there is absolutely nothing that could negatively impact other people, but only participate in the maintenance of a healthy atmosphere for all.
